Iro Voulgari


Iro Voulgari is member of the laboratory and teaching staff at the Department of Early Childhood Education, National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. She graduated from the Department of Education Sciences in Pre-School Age, Democritus University of Thrace, GR, received an M.Ed in Information Technology, Multimedia and Education from the University of Leeds, UK and a PhD at the Department of Educational Sciences and Early Childhood Education from the University of Patras. She has worked in a number of R&D Projects relevant to the design, development, and assessment of educational software and e-learning environments and the implementation of Information and Communication technologies (ICT) in Education. Her professional experience includes work in the public and private sector, such as the University College London, the University of Patras, the University of Athens, the Institute of Language and Speech Processing, and companies specializing in educational software and in assistive technology. She has experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, and project management and coordination. Her academic interests and related research publications are relevant to the implementation of ICTs in education and learning, e-learning, game-based learning, the learning and social aspects of virtual worlds and multi-player games, virtual communities, collaborative learning, computer-mediated communication, and computer supported collaborative learning.
