Stephania Vouvousira


Stephania Vouvousira received a BSc degree in Early Childhood Education from the Faculty of Early Childhood Education, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and a MA degree in Political Science and Sociology from the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Since 2004, she has been serving as a preschool teacher in Greek public education. In addition, since 2008, she has been collaborating with the Faculty of Early Childhood Education of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens as a mentor of undergraduate students in their practicum. From 2008 to 2011, she was a teaching fellow for the tutorial: Writing a Scientific Research Paper (Module: Introduction to the Sociology of Education. Instructor: Prof. Neli Askouni) at the Faculty of Early Childhood Education, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her research experience includes interviews of primary school teachers for the Act “The Education of Muslim Minority Children of Thrace”/ “Education and Life-long Learning/Transcultural Education” (2013), and participation in the research “The constitution and development of teachers’ professional identity”, Faculty of Early Childhood Education, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2013). She has also served as a discussion leader in various workshops at the Faculty of Early Childhood Education of the University of Athens (Differentiated Education/Social Inequality and Education), as a trainer of primary school teachers in a teacher training program on the education of children from the Muslim minority of Thrace, as well as in various teacher training seminars concerning the use of visual arts in education. Her research interests include the sociology of education, the sociology of childhood, the planning and implementation of educational programs for preschoolers, the educational use of photography in the classroom, and the mentoring of future teachers. She has published papers in academic journals and conference proceedings.
