Vassilis Tsafos


Vassilis Tsafos, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor of Pedagogical Theory and Curriculum in the Early Childhood Education Department, University of Athens, Greece. He has worked as a teacher in Secondary Schools in Greece (1989-2004), as a Deputy Councillor of the Pedagogical Institute of Greece (2004-2008), as a Temporary Lecturer, Department of Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology, School of Philosophy, University of Athens (2000-2004). His research and writing is particularly informed by teaching theory, cultural and curriculum studies and teacher education. His current areas of research interest include topics about curriculum, methods of teaching, educational research methods, teacher development, as well as pre-service and in-service teacher education. He has written books (From Teaching to Research. The Educational Action Research. Athens: Savalas (2003) [with E.Katsarou]; The teaching of Ancient Greek Literature and Language. For an alternative learning in the ancient world, Athens: Metaixmio (2004); Curriculum: Theoretical Approaches and Educational Orientations. Researching new stabilities in an uncertain world, Athens: Metaixmio (2014)) and articles in Greek and English journals on the teaching process, the teachers’ role in the curriculum development and evaluation and the ways of educational research, especially educational action research.
